THE BARS OF LYNN

Night of 8 September 1986

33 The 595 Cafe

More mounted fish - tuna and sailfish - this time. There's no TV and the people at the bar speak Polish, so bring your dictionary. The bar is well lit and well managed. While these reviewers weren't interested in food, it looks like it might be a good place. The crowd here looks like it would also be at home in the Shawmut Grille so age might be a problem. Probably a good cheap date. No darts.

Photograph: a projecting sign reading "595 CAFE" with a bow tie device below it and a smaller "AIR CONDITIONED" panel beneath. Clapboard buildings along a narrow street.

Reading notes

  • Location clue: "the people at the bar speak Polish". Lynn had an Eastern
European community, and this entry should be read alongside the Lithuanian Club
mentioned at the Corinthian (#19) and the White Eagle (#34).
Note: the sign reads 595, supporting the street number theory now that Burke's
    757 is on Western Ave.
